1st Battle River Scouts currently offers:
All of our sections currently meet on Sundays. Beavers meet from 3:30-5 pm, and Cubs and Scouts both meet from 6-7:30 pm, although they have separate meetings at separate locations. We do have occasional meetings and events outside of Sunday for things like camps. Our program runs from September to June, with occasion events during the summer, but no weekly meetings.
All of our sections run outdoor programming - that means that the priority is getting the youths outside. We have very few meetings indoors, and instead we meet at parks and locations around Camrose according to a schedule, which we give to parents prior to each season.
1st Battle River Scouts was founded in 2022 with 3 Beavers and 2 Scouters. As of the 2024/2025 season, we now have 30 youths in Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts, 9 Scouters in the sections, and 4 more Scouters in our Group Committee. We are growing!
As part of our sustainable development, we will be slowly rolling out sections as we have volunteers to run the groups. For the 2024-2025 season, we currently have volunteers in place for a Beavers section (ages 5-7), a Cubs section (ages 8-11), and a Scouts section (ages 12-14).
It is our goal to run all sections eventually Ventures (ages 14-17), and Rovers (ages 18-26)]. If your youth fits into these older sections, please consider volunteering! There's a two-volunteer minimum to run any section.
Being a Scouter, working directly with the youths, is an extremely rewarding experience. You mentor and guide their development and enjoyment of the outdoors, and best of all, you get to participate in all the adventures. We provide training, you join a team led by an experienced Scouter, and whatever your unique talents and interests are, you can add to our adventure. Join us and be part of the village raising these youths. The more Scouters we have, the more youths we can accept into the Scouts Canada program.
